The Miami-Dade School board rejected a resolution on Wednesday that would recognize October as LGBTQ History Month, marking the third year in a row the board has voted down the item.

Miami-Dade School Board votes no on LGBTQ History Month, unlike Broward

The story of recognizing LGBTQ history, the way school districts historically recognize Women’s History Month, Black History Month or Hispanic Heritage Month has become a tale of two counties.

While a majority of Broward County School Board member decided to recognize the contributions of LGBTQ community members to our nation’s history, the majority of Miami-Dade School Board members, for the third year in a row, have not.

FDOT: No Pride rainbows for Florida bridges this summer

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is ordering the state’s bridges solely be illuminated in the colors of the American flag from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The announcement effectively bans the use of any other color scheme over the course of the summer, such as rainbow colors for Pride Month, which is celebrated in June.
